How Podtrac’s audience survey works
Get to know your listeners with Podtrac’s Audience Survey
Podtrac’s free, web-based survey for your podcast was expertly developed by audience research professionals and can be used by any podcaster, regardless of where you host your show and whether or not you are measuring your show with Podtrac Traffic Measurement.
Here's how to use the Podtrac Survey:
1. Register your show with Podtrac (or login to your existing Podtrac account).
2. Select which survey you want to use.
The Standard Podtrac Audience Survey: the industry standard in audience data which gives you the most detailed information about your audience. This survey consists of 40 questions and takes approximately ten minutes to complete (a typical length for a research survey of this type) and has been completed by more than 150,000 online show audience members. The Abbreviated Podtrac Audience Survey: a shorter version zeroing in on key demographic data. The abbreviated version consists of 14 questions and takes about 5 minutes to complete. You can try out the Abbreviated Podtrac Survey here.
Both surveys are designed to collect the right information for your podcast. With either of our free surveys, you'll receive:
A unique link so responses ares stored specific to your podcast
Copy and graphics to help you promote the survey via your website
3. Add the appropriate survey link to your website.
Your survey link is unique to your show(s) and is provided on your Podtrac Dashboard. Using it will enable us to report your audience's survey responses as a distinct group. Sample graphics to post on your website as survey links are available on your Podtrac Dashboard.
4. Mention the audience survey in your show(s) for at least two months.
Talking about the survey on your shows will help drive traffic to your website and the survey. And by having more listeners complete the survey, you'll maximize the accuracy of your results. Check your Podtrac account for sample copy for promoting the survey on your show.
5. Check your results online.
Your survey will be available in the Reports tab of your Podtrac Dashboard. We recommend you check 15 days after launching the survey on your site and in your show to see what type of response you are getting. Online results are updated nightly.
