HOW TO CHECK YOUR PODCAST RSS FEED

Once you implement the Podtrac Prefix, you can log into your Podtrac account the next day, and check that Podtrac has counts for your show to insure your implementation was correct.

Or if you want to check right away after you add Podtrac, here’s how to to check your feed to make sure Podtrac is added:

1 - Using your web browser, view the Source code for your podcast RSS feed.

  • If you don’t have your RSS feed for your podcast handy, you can search for it by name here:  https://castfeedvalidator.com/FindCast.php.  Then click:  “View RSS” to display the source code for your feed

  • You can also display the source for your feed by entering the RSS feed in your browser.  For example in Chrome, enter the RSS feed in your browser, then from the Chrome browser menu select:  View > Developer > Source.

2 - On the source code page, search for Podtrac.

  • If Podtrac is implemented, “podtrac” will appear multiple times on the page (as part of the Prefix), once for each episode (RSS feed enclosure)

  • For example on a Mac, hold down Command and press F, then type Podtrac in the search box.

3 - If you have manually edited your podcast feed, check your RSS feed to ensure it’s valid.
