Highlights of the January 2023 rankings include :

  • US UMA increased for 15 of the Top 20 publishers in January 2023 over December 2022 with post-holiday listening.

  • The average US Unique Monthly Audience for the Top 20 publishers was up 7% month-over-month and up 16% over January 2022.

  • Total Global Downloads for the Top 20 publishers were up 9% month-over-month and up 6% year-over-year.

  • The combined Audience for the Top Sales Networks was up 6% month-over-month.

  • NPR has the most Top 20 shows (4) for January 2023.

December 2022- Top Podcasts, Publishers and Sales Networks

Highlights of the December 2022 rankings include :

  • US UMA decreased or was flat for all of the Top 20 publishers in December 2022 over November 2022 due to lower holiday listening.

  • The average US Unique Monthly Audience for the Top 20 publishers was down 9% month-over-month and up 11% over December 2021.

  • Total Global Downloads for the Top 20 publishers were down 11 % month-over-month and up 2% year-over-year.

  • Wondery maintained the #1 spot for Sales Networks.

  • The Daily is the top podcast for the 50th month running.

Highlights of the November 2022 rankings include :

  • The average US Unique Monthly Audience for the Top 20 publishers was flat month-over-month and up 16% over November 2021, in part due to a new version of the Apple Podcasts app released in November.

  • Total Global Downloads for the Top 20 publishers was down 6% month-over-month, in part due to the Thanksgiving Holiday, and up 23% year-over-year.

  • Wondery maintained the #1 spot for Sales Networks with a reach of over 29 million listeners.

  • The Daily is the top podcast for the 50th month running.

October 2022- Top Podcasts, Publishers and Sales Networks

The Top Podcast Publishers, Top Sales Networks and Top Podcasts rankings for October are now available at www.Podtrac.com.

Highlights of the October 2022 rankings include :

  • US UMA increased for 16 of the Top 20 publishers in October 2022 over September 2022.

  • The average US Unique Monthly Audience for the Top 20 publishers was up 1% month-over-month and up 16% over October 2021.

  • Total Global Downloads for the Top 20 publishers were up 3% month-over-month and up 31% year-over-year.

  • Wondery maintained the #1 spot for Sales Networks with a reach of over 25 million.

  • The Daily is the top podcast for the 49th month running.

Podtrac Launches New Podcast Sales Network Ranking

Advertisers Have More Ways to Reach Short and Long Tail Audiences from Top Sales Networks Measured by Podtrac

The new Podtrac Sales Network Ranking showcases the reach and delivery of podcast networks that provide important advertising options to the industry across all of the shows they represent.   

Podtrac’s new Sales Network Ranking provides advertisers with free monthly access to Podtrac reach and delivery information for top sales networks.  The networks on the new ranking represent more than 38,000 podcasts and 500 million monthly downloads.  

Topping the list is Wondery’s sales network with a US monthly audience of 25 million which includes podcasts they represent on their Art19 platform. Other networks on the ranking include podcast ad and publishing platforms Acast and Libsyn AdvertiseCast, both newly measured by Podtrac, plus PodcastOne.

As with Podtrac’s industry-first Podcast Publisher Ranking which debuted in May 2016, more sales networks are expected to join Podtrac’s newest ranking over time. 

Today’s podcast ad sales networks may provide a variety of services to the shows and publishers they represent including ad sales, hosting, publishing tools and/or ad insertion.  The new podcast audience ranking data from Podtrac is actionable for advertisers in working with the sales networks listed on the rankings to reach engaged podcast listeners across both the short and long tail.
