TOP PODCAST PUBLISHER RANKING FOR FEBRUARY 2017 NOW AVAILABLE

The full February Ranking of the Top 10 Podcast Publishers is now available for download at Podtrac.com. 

Highlights of the February Publisher Ranking :

  • The New York Times debuts on the Ranking at #7 fueled by the success of its new podcast The Daily.
  • Unique audience and global downloads were relatively flat for most publishers for February compared to January.
  • Total Global Unique Streams and Downloads for the group of top 10 publishers was 183 million in February compared to 194 million in  January.

January 2017 - Top Podcast Publishers

Podtrac's Top Podcast Publisher Ranking for January 2017 is now available

The full January Ranking of the Top 10 Podcast Publishers is now available for download at Podtrac.com. 

Highlights of the January Publisher Ranking :

  • Unique audience was flat for all publishers for January compared to December, however, all but two publishers had an increase in total U.S. and Global downloads - signifying an increase in the amount of listening (number of episodes) by individual audience members while the overall audience of podcast listeners remains static.
  • Total Global Unique Streams and Downloads for the group of top 10 publishers was up 4% for January over December while U.S. traffic was up by 3%.

Highlights of the December Top Podcasts Ranking

  • The top seven podcasts are the same as in November in exact same order.
  • The end of the election cycle resulted in one election-related show dropping from from #8 to #13 (NPR Politics) and one election-related show dropping off the Top 20 (FiveThirtyEight Elections).
  •  Two new shows make the Top 20 for the first time this month: How I Built This at #16 and Crimetown at #18.

December 2016 - Top Podcast Publisher Ranking

Podtrac's Top Podcast Publisher Ranking for December 2016 is now available.

Highlights of the December Publisher Ranking :

  • Unique audience numbers were relatively flat for most publishers for December over November.
  • American Public Media has climbed back into the top 10 (#9) after an absence in November.
  • Total Global Unique Streams and Downloads for the group of top 10 publishers was down by 8% for December (186 million) over November (203 million).

TOP 20 PODCASTS: NOVEMBER 2016

Podtrac's ranking of the Top 20 Podcasts based on U.S. Unique Monthly Audience for the month of November 2016  is now available at Podtrac.com.

Highlights of the November Top Podcasts Ranking

  • The Top 20 podcasts for November are the same 20 shows as we saw make the list in October.
  • Election related shows continued to make the list but appeared somewhat lower on the November list versus October (NPR Politics moved from #7 to #8 and FiveThirtyEight Elections fell from #8 to #13).
  • Once again, This American Life and RadioLab command the number 1 and 2 spots respectively while we see shuffling of the relative ranking of the remaining top shows.

Highlights of the November Publisher Ranking :

  • All Top 10 Publishers saw a dip in unique audience from October, however, most publishers are still above September levels.
  • Total Global Unique Streams and Downloads was down by 3 million for November (203 million) over October (206 million).

Podtrac's ranking of the Top 20 Podcasts based on U.S. Unique Monthly Audience for the month of October 2016  is now available at Podtrac.com.

Highlights of the October Top Podcasts Ranking

  • The October ranking shows the strong influence of the presidential election on podcast listening with the debut of ESPN's FiveThirtyEight Elections at #8 and the rise of NPR Politics Podcast from #13 in September to #7 in October.
  • FiveThirtyEight Elections is the only new show to break into the top 20 in October.
  • This American Life and WNYC's RadioLab keep the number 1 and 2 spots respectively while we see shuffling of the relative ranking of the remaining top shows.
